Title
- “Importance of Documentation in Operational Performance of Pilot during
Flight Journey”
Introduction, Importance
& Significance of the study
This project is related to the
staff working on airport. There are so many airlines operating internationally
and domestically. Before entering the airport everybody has to go through the
security system. Nobody including the working staff and passengers can go
without security checking. Working staff at the airport has to be alert always
because there little carelessness can be very dangerous. They should be very
careful while interacting with the passengers. Documentation is given very much
importance including the working staff.
Documentation is very useful
& important in any organization. In this project documentation basically
contain all the necessary information required by the pilots hence
documentation can’t be taken lightly. They have their own importance they can’t
be left out or misunderstood. Documentation is a systematically arranged data
required and can be accessed easily when needed.
Recent studies have proved
documentation to be very much important required for the simple reason because
through documentation everybody who is in any sought of difficulty can go
through it and probably get a solution. Hence, neglecting this resource can be
dangerous so the people preparing these documents need to be very sharp and
accurate in order to avoid any problems.
Before flight being operated the
whole mechanism is thoroughly checked. Cabin crew has to clear their
performance latter duly signed by the captain which states their earlier flight
record. Before entering the flight all the crew members including pilots have
to go through the medical check indicating whether they are fit to fly or not.
Pilots are given the flying sectors according to their experience. Pilot study
the sector carefully which he is asked to operate. Cleaning staff do their
work of cleaning the whole flight
regularly.
Air India is the only government
operating airlines. Air India was founded by J. R. D. Tata in July 1932
as Tata Airlines,
a division of Tata Sons Ltd. (now Tata Group). On 15 October
1932, J. R. D. Tata flew a single-engine De Havilland
Puss Moth carrying air mail (postal mail of Imperial Airways) from Karachi's Drigh Road
Aerodrome to Bombay's
Juhu Airstrip
via Ahmedabad.
Documentation department is very
important department because this department provides all the necessary
information to the pilots which are required during operating flights. Whatever
changes during flight all the information’s are provided by this department.
This is the only department by which pilot comes to know the limit of
passengers, capacity of cargo, fuel, etc. This is the only one department those
connected to every international and domestic airport. Lots of document are
there on aircraft. Pilot only refer those documents which are required during
operation of flight. While operating the flight the required page is kept on
front by the pilot. Even on these documents the security check is done.
On airport, document section is
given too much importance because among these documents if any of the documents
is missing or incorrect this may result in pilots performance. Before operating
the flight pilots check for all these documents casually because his little
carelessness can result in a disaster. All these documentation are properly
checked by the authorized persons then send to this department for further
process. Before operating the flight the pilot check all these documents and
sign a acknowledgement.
Rationale
The documentation department as
by name indicates that mainly document oriented activities are done in this
department and this is the most important activity for the pilot operating the
flight. The contribution of the working staff in documentation department is
sole for the documents needed by the pilot operating the flight. And if DGCA
success in up-grading working condition in document department then there can
be improvement in the performance of overall activities leading to the more
convenience for pilots, working staff and passengers.
In DGCA first line documents
come from companies like JEPPSEN and hence development of documentation department
assumes critical significance both for present as well as the future.
There is no relax for the
working staff due to the importance of the documents required with the most
accuracy every time. Hence systematic up-gradation of documents with all the necessary
things will make a good impact on every one related to documents and create a
positive impact in the documentation department encouraging them to do their
work more efficiently and accurately.
Documentation department is a
valuable asset for DGCA hence there is need to invest time and effort in the
development.
OBJECTIVE
1) To understand the flight
safety and importance of record keeping and need of documentation
2) What aspects of are critical
of record keeping for the pilots performance
3) To study the standards that
are applied in such record keeping and its importance worldwide for safe flight
operation
4) To formulate and work out
most effective way of data management and suggest suitable methods of record
keeping.
