1. Introduction
The purpose of this research is to identify whether there is an opportunity to establish and successfully run a business providing beauty products and services. Customers have different requirements and the purpose is to identify what these requirements are and how to provide them. 
The research will assist in developing an understanding of how to set up this type of business, and what are the key issues which have to be taken in to consideration when starting the business in Auckland, New Zealand. This review will provide information about the industry and potential market growth in New Zealand. This will also help to identify the trends and technology required to run a Beauty Salon business.
1.1 Overview of Arreglarse
We are looking into the possibility of starting a hair and beauty salon business in Auckland by the name of “Arreglarse”. It’s a Spanish word which means “making you look good”. Auckland is much more liveable than any other cities in New Zealand. “The Economic Intelligence unit has released its list of the world’s most liveable cities in which Auckland ranked 10th most-liveable”(http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/5540100/Auckland-more-liveable-than-Wellington). The main purpose is to provide customer satisfaction by providing convenient services and using branded products. The target market for Arreglarse will be women and Arreglarse will provide all types of beauty services for women. Arreglarse will also provide Laser hair removal treatments and weight loss treatment at affordable prices. Arreglarse will have a small personnel team to handle the business needs initially. This personnel team will consist of the Owner (CEO), Marketing Manager and Finance Manager, supervisor, customer service & sales promotion in charge, accountant and line staff. The entrance will have a reception desk with a waiting area. The lounge will have the latest women’s magazines to read. In addition a general area for threading (aligning eyebrows) facial and hair care treatments. Private cabins will be there for people who want to do waxing, tanning, body massage and body spa.
Value to the customer
The value to the customer will be in the form of convenient services using branded products at justified pricing. Further, the focus will be on providing all the beauty related services at a single place at justified prices.

What are the operational issues necessary to make Arreglarse a successful beauty salon in Auckland?
1.3 Objectives of the study
Objectives of secondary research:
  • To analyse the current scenario and trends in the beauty industry in Auckland and in New Zealand
